Zelensky says Russia is preparing massive attack on Ukraine during US midterms
Ukraine's president says the attack would mainly target energy and logistics, and he urges the US and the world to press Russia harder.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that Ukraine has intelligence that Russia is preparing a new massive attack, aimed mainly at energy and logistics. He said the assumption is that the world will be watching the U.S. midterm elections on Tuesday and will overlook events in Ukraine, along with its difficulties with air defense and Patriot missiles. Zelensky urged the United States and the world to press Russia until it has no alternative but to end the war, saying America can do this.
According to Fox News, the warning came hours after a Russian strike on a school used to hand out humanitarian aid in Komyshuvakha, in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainska Pravda reported at least 26 people killed. Zelensky also said, as the Daily Beast reports, that Russia now hits power grids as well as power plants, with dozens of strikes a day.
The Daily Beast also reports that Ukrainian drones set a refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, ablaze overnight on Tuesday. Fox News, citing Reuters, says the State Department approved the potential sale of 500 Patriot interceptors to Ukraine.

Exposed Russian plot and Trump's energy ceasefire
The Daily Beast opens with the claim that Putin's "big midterm plot" was exposed by Ukrainian intelligence, and notes the warning was shared by the SZRU, Ukraine's foreign intelligence service. It quotes Zelensky on the expected attack on energy and logistics and on his call for pressure on Russia. The piece ties the story to Trump, saying air defense deliveries under him are slower than under Biden and that Zelensky's words add pressure at a time of rising gas and grocery prices.
It describes Trump's energy ceasefire as a plan that "didn't pay off," with Russia answering by striking energy sites and killing dozens. It quotes Zelensky's description of "dozens of strikes a day" on the grid. It closes on Ukraine's drone strike on the Yaroslavl refinery and the effect of Ukraine's campaign on Russia's economy.

Zelensky's warning and his call on Trump
Fox News leads with Zelensky's warning of a "massive attack" tied to the midterms and his urging that the Trump administration raise pressure on Moscow. It quotes his line that Russia's "oil will burn" if the war continues, and his words that "America can do this." It reports the strike on the Komyshuvakha school, citing Ukrainska Pravda for at least 26 dead.
It also covers Trump's efforts with envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and Zelensky's Fox News interview offering a month's pause on refinery strikes in return for Patriots. It adds the State Department's potential sale of 500 interceptors, citing Reuters, and Ukraine's General Staff statement that Russia used the Oleshky pause to improve its positions. Nearly 800 people were evacuated during that pause, according to Melania Trump.
