Three sides of the story

ABC News presents the final week as one in which Republicans are on the defensive. It describes the backdrop as record fuel prices, rising costs and a war in Iran that it calls unpopular. It says Trump is concentrating on states he won comfortably two years ago, and that money from the party and the pro-Trump Inc. has kept candidates afloat.

It adds that Republicans have doubted they can hold the North Carolina Senate seat. Obama appears as a counterweight to Trump: ABC recalls his Michigan criticism of the White House renovations and of Trump's growing wealth, and describes his planned Georgia event with Keisha Lance Bottoms and Sen. Jon Ossoff. ABC also gives space to the Ohio governor's race.

It reports on the Ramaswamy campaign ad featuring Amy Acton's mother, and says Trump backed the ad while Husted and other Republicans distanced themselves. It also notes Trump's habit of riffing on Husted's physique at rallies.

Right-leaning outlets focus on Trump's travel and message. The Daily Wire counts his 28th rally of the cycle, lists his schedule through Sunday and quotes an Iowa voter who says Trump voters stay loyal to him. It quotes White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales promising safer streets, lower taxes and a secure border under Republican control.

It also reports Trump's harsh language about Democrats such as Amy Acton and James Talarico, and quotes Vance saying Republicans face historical headwinds but could defy them. The Washington Examiner covers Rubio joining Trump's events, his promotion of the Venezuela policy and the 2028 outlook, citing a New York Times-Siena poll. It also notes Trump's approval below 40% since the Iran war began, and says Whatley has trailed Cooper in polls.

The Washington Times reports on Trump's Ohio trip and Obama's Georgia rally.
